On October 11, 2023, Humanity Touch proudly participated in the Charity Run for the Dignity of the Girl Child, held in Adjumani District to mark the International Day of the Girl Child. The event was anchored in the global theme “Invest in Girls’ Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being”, a powerful call to action that emphasized the need for sustained investment in girls’ education, health, protection, and leadership development. The run brought together adolescent girls, community members, local leaders, and nonprofit organizations in a vibrant show of solidarity and commitment to advancing gender equality.

Humanity Touch’s engagement in the event reflected its strategic mission to empower girls through gender justice, rights-based social protection, and feminist leadership. As part of the day’s activities, the organization facilitated storytelling sessions, community dialogues, and leadership showcases where girls shared their experiences, aspirations, and the impact of inclusive programming. Many of the participants were beneficiaries of Humanity Touch’s Feminist Leadership Academy and Safe Spaces Project, which provide mentorship, psychosocial support, and advocacy training to adolescent girls—especially those affected by displacement, poverty, and gender-based violence.

The run also served as a platform to amplify Humanity Touch’s work in eco-inclusive livelihoods and digital empowerment. Girls trained through the Mobile Agricultural Training Van Project demonstrated skills in climate-smart agriculture, artisanal baking, and digital literacy—highlighting how access to vocational training and technology can transform lives and foster self-reliance. These initiatives not only equip girls with practical tools but also nurture their confidence, agency, and leadership capacity within their communities.

Throughout the event, Humanity Touch emphasized the importance of investing in girls as a pathway to sustainable development and social cohesion. Staff and volunteers distributed educational materials, shared GBV referral pathways, and engaged local leaders in policy conversations around inclusive education, protection services, and youth participation. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to creating safe, empowering spaces where girls can thrive, lead, and shape the future.

The 2023 Charity Run was more than a symbolic gesture—it was a declaration of collective responsibility. Humanity Touch continues to champion the rights and dignity of the girl child, ensuring that every girl—regardless of background or circumstance—has the opportunity to live free from violence, access quality education, and lead with purpose. As the theme rightly stated, investing in girls’ rights is not just a moral imperative—it is a strategic investment in leadership, well-being, and the future of our communities.
