Marking International Women’s Day 2024: Inspiring Inclusion, Accelerating Progress

Posted by Categories: General

On March 8, 2024, Humanity Touch proudly joined the global community in commemorating International Women’s Day under the dual themes: “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” and “#InspireInclusion”2. These themes called for bold action to dismantle systemic barriers, amplify women’s voices, and ensure that women and girls—regardless of background—are fully included in shaping the future. For Humanity Touch, the day was a powerful affirmation of its mission to advance gender justice, promote eco-inclusive livelihoods, and empower women and girls to lead transformative change.

In Adjumani and surrounding districts, Humanity Touch collaborated with local government, humanitarian partners, and grassroots leaders to host inclusive celebrations that reflected both the urgency and promise of the global themes. Women and girls from host and refugee communities participated in storytelling sessions, community dialogues, and leadership showcases—sharing their experiences, aspirations, and innovations. The organization spotlighted its ongoing work in GBV prevention, feminist leadership development, and rights-based social protection, emphasizing the need to invest in women not only as beneficiaries but as architects of sustainable change.

The theme “Invest in Women” resonated deeply with Humanity Touch’s strategic programming. Through initiatives like the Feminist Leadership Academy, Safe Spaces Project, and Mobile Agricultural Training Van, the organization has consistently prioritized financial inclusion, vocational training, and psychosocial support for women and girls—especially those affected by displacement, poverty, and violence. By equipping women with skills, resources, and platforms to thrive, Humanity Touch is actively accelerating progress toward a more just and resilient society.

Equally, the theme “#InspireInclusion” aligned with Humanity Touch’s commitment to intersectional empowerment. The organization’s work embraces diversity across ability, age, ethnicity, and status—ensuring that women with disabilities, adolescent girls, and survivors of GBV are not only protected but meaningfully included in decision-making, leadership, and economic opportunity. During the celebrations, inclusive messaging and participatory activities reinforced the belief that true inclusion requires valuing difference, challenging stereotypes, and creating spaces where every woman feels seen, heard, and respected.

The 2024 International Women’s Day celebration was more than symbolic—it was catalytic. It reaffirmed Humanity Touch’s role as a convener, advocate, and implementer of gender-transformative programming. By investing in women and inspiring inclusion, the organization continues to build bridges between policy and practice, between vision and action. And as the world grapples with intersecting crises—from climate change to economic inequality—Humanity Touch remains steadfast in its belief: when women rise, communities thrive.
